As some of you MAY NOT KNOW we have our FIRST "BLACK" PRESIDENTIAL DEMOCRATIC NOMINEE! As I said, some of you may not know -- hell some of you may not even care. And for those of you that are unaware of this historical event, I bet you are the same ones that are unaware or could care less regarding the Sean Bell Case as well as other stories that have hit close to our culture. Shame on all of you for not being in the "know." Cut the shit, stop worrying about nonsense and become more mindful of the world we all live in.
I for one will be VERY honest, I WASN'T A BELIEVER! I figured the Clinton machine would tear him to shreds, for me it was a numbers game i.e. Bush, Clinton, Bush...Clint...wrong! This wasn't fill in the blank as I assumed (yes the ump tioned me lmao)
With Barack getting his 2,118 + votes needed to get the nomination Hillary Clinton finally lost. For a woman, I must admit, her courage is pretty impressive. She had been down and out for months now but fought hard and wouldn't concede by any means.
Some of you who know me will say, well as a Black man how come you didn't root for Obama? EASY, he's barely black! His mother is white and his father is African, hell he barely was able to vote considering he was born in Hawaii.
I wasn't the only one that doubted he could come this far, a lot of other black people across the nation also doubted him. How could we support him though? Granted he has done a lot of work in Chicago with a lot of minority communities. Bottom line is, he just cannot relate to the "black experience" (another blog for another day...wink).
This really isn't a politically driven blog as much as I aim to point out that Obama merely won due to his popularity. Neither he, nor Hillary is/was "qualified" enough for this position, however, they were popular enough. With her being a former first lady and him being an awesome public speaker people for once were excited about our upcoming 2008 elections.
What sucks is that in this day and age where leadership is needed we turn a blind eye to those who really understand and can execute Policies. We need a president that understands our International Political scene as well as our Domestic one. But we aren't going to get that, we got a barely American -- "African-American" (TRUE AFRICAN AMERICAN) who has won a nomination by simply stating "WE BELIEVE IN CHANGE." WOW!
What can I say, it's the same gullible idiots that voted bush in twice that have now gone on to get excited about a colored man who can speak well. At the end of the day life is a popularity contest, not one of smarts, intelligence, strength or know how. This is a life/world that rewards people who's reputations precede themselves...when it should be themselves that precede the reputation.
PS: I didn't go to deep into detail b/c even I know something like this can't hold your attention as most of you only care about the other crap I write about i.e. sex, relationships, bullshit and more bullshit.

Dr. Greene,
I thoroughly enjoyed your insightful opinion on the current presidential candidate. I just want to focus on the area in which you clearly defined Mr. Obama as anything but Black. After the "Miaffa", the mixing of Continental Africans with Europeans has shifted most of Africans to African Americans. Remember Kunta Kinte to Toby? In that term alone we are not defined only by the colour of our skin, but also by our social experiences, and by looking at Mr. Obama I can insightfully say that his experience being very parallel to people defined as African American. Let me pose this to you when Halle Berry won the Oscar she identified herself as being African American and the population was happy for her. Should they not revel in the same victory? If it is a popularity contest, then guess what? Today African American is popular. Yesterday Bob Marley was not a popular as he is today.
To historically clear a tad bit of information for you a person is considered Black, African American, Negro, or Afro American, if he has 1/16th Black Blood in him. This was the Europeans way of distinctly drawing the colour barriers of slaves. I guess again Mr. Obama (African name) is black. I did not as you say focus on the politics of the Blog but on a portion that stood out for me.
As a wise man once said the artist known as M&M did not stand out because of his music alone, but that the message coming from his mouth is the truth coming from the epitome of a Black man and that made him all the more famous and controversial. He was and still is controversial and society thrives on controversy.

Tell 'em girl. I take my hat off to you for to day.
You make certain comments, a lot of them at that, and they may possibly lead someone to believe that you are slightly sexist. What is the "For a woman, I must admit, her courage is pretty impressive," about? Is that not what ANY candidate would do male or female? So why does that fact that she's a woman make her this courageous being?
As for your comment about Obama not being able to relate to the "back experience" I think I may possibly agree with you. There are a couple reasons why I say this, but I will speak on one. Most Africans think that they are better then African-Americans because they are some pure breed and we aren't and although Obama is a mulatto he isn't mixed by the same standards as "we" are. However, I do feel that being someone that dates inter-racially I can see where he may have had it harder growing up then those of us that aren't "mixed" that close up the line. Being an interracial couple is hard so I don't even want to imagine what it's like to be the product of one.
One more thing...As much as we may need this president with all this political experience you are referring to and one who knows policy, where exactly do you suggest we get one from. I mean because as far back as I can remember we have voted in our presidents and whether or not they fully qualified or partially did so , at the end of the day isn't popularity amongst the people that puts them in office? Besides what's wrong with learning on the job, we all have to do it. What makes being a president any different, you're still a human meaning you're still susceptible to mistakes?
